INTRO: My favorite day of the year is finally here. Like last year I am still waiting for the Academy to wise up and bring the number of Best Picture nominees down to five but I guess having more just gives me more films to watch and there is nothing wrong with that. Like I have every year since 2005, I have managed to see every film nominated for Best Picture and from there attempted to watch as many other nominated films as I can. Doing so was harder this year because I was deployed and since my return from deployment I have been out in the field a lot. Luckily I will not have that problem next year as I transition out of the Marine Corps and into civilian life (YAY!). Anyways, this year the acting categories are all pretty tied up but this has probably been the closest showdown for Best Picture in all of the years I have been paying attention to the Oscars. It is basically a three way tie between Gravity, 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle. Best Original Screenplay is also a toss up between Her and American Hustle. But regardless of how close these nominations are, I have done my best to watch as many films as possible and predict the winners. This year I am in a competition with my friend James Wogan and it will be interesting to see who is taking who to the movies this year. But after going 21 of 24 last year, I am confident that James will be taking me to the movies! I hope you all have some free time to watch the show tonight (although they need to bring back Hugh Jackman as host!) and here are my predictions!
Side Note: If I haven’t seen most or all of the nominees in a category, they will be marked with “N/A”

Feel free to make your own predictions and comment on here to say what or who you think should or will win certain Oscars. James and my predictions are the same except for in three categories so it will come down to those three to see who the winner is! Until next year, keep watching movies and I will see you at the cineplex 🙂
