After only being able to watch 65 films in theaters in 2020 due to the China Virus, Top Pun Reviews came back with a flood of new films as I was able to beat my personal all time record of 123 films in 2019. In 2021, I was able to watch 139 films in theaters, a record that will be hard to beat moving forward. In addition to the 139 theatrical films, I was able to watch and review 18 Netflix films, 3 Amazon Studios films, 1 Apple TV+ film, 2 Disney+ films, 1 HBO film, 1 Hulu film and 2 Video On Demand (VOD) films for a grand total of 167 films reviewed. However, that’s not all. The icing on the cake is the 39 different TV seasons of various shows across 2021. With a record breaking amount of content coming to screens through theaters and streaming services, I was happy to dedicate more time to reviewing these films and shows so you know what to avoid and what to check out.
2021 had a lot of films come out that were delayed from 2020 when theaters shut down so in addition to many delayed films, we also got the films that were originally intended for 2021. Only now in 2022 is Hollywood finally catching up on release dates after years of delays and some films sitting on the shelves for years, completed but awaiting release. While 167 film reviews plus 39 TV season reviews is a lot to wade through, understandably, the beauty of my Best/Worst List is that we cut to the chase and you can figure out which films you didn’t see in 2021 but absolutely need to and which atrocities you will never want to let enter your home television screen. Without further adieu, let’s take a look at the highs and lows of 2021…
